Measure Title: URGING PRIVATE SCHOOLS IN HAWAI‘I TO CONSIDER OFFERING OR CONTINUE OFFERING HAWAIIAN LANGUAGE INSTRUCTION AS AN OPTION OR AN ELECTIVE IN THEIR ACADEMIC CURRICULUM.
Report Title: Hawaiian Language Instruction; Private Schools
Description: Urging private schools in Hawai’i to consider offering or continue offering Hawaiian language instruction as an option or an elective in their academic curriculum.

Measure Title: RELATING TO THE HAWAIIAN LANGUAGE.
Report Title: Hawaiian Language; Government Documents
Description: Clarifies that Hawaiian shall be required for public acts and transactions beginning on January 1, 2020. Requires that upon request by a member of the public for the Hawaiian language version, the public officer having the care and custody of a government record, paper, or document shall make all reasonable efforts to make it available in Hawaiian.

Measure Title: RELATING TO PERSONAL PRIVACY
Report Title: Department of Hawaiian Home Lands; Disclosure of Government Records
Description: Specifies certain content of Department of Hawaiian Home Lands homestead applicant and lessee files are not required to be disclosed. (Companion Bill S.B. 960)

Measure Title:  RELATING TO NATIVE HAWAIIAN HIGHER EDUCATION.
Report Title:  UH; Health Sciences; Native Hawaiians; Pacific Islanders; Appropriation ($)
Description:  Establishes an undergraduate health sciences academy at the University of Hawaii to increase recruitment and retention of Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander, and first generation college students. Makes an appropriation.

Measure Title:  RELATING TO ACTIONS FOR QUIET TITLE
Report Title:  Action for Quiet Title; Kuleana Land
Description: Provides that: (1) actions for quiet title of kuleana lands shall be subject to mandatory mediation; (2) court cases by the same plaintiff that seeks quiet title for separate kuleana lands within the same court circuit shall be consolidated; (3) defendant’s access for cultural and traditional practices shall not be alienated or extinguished; and (4) plaintiff shall not recover costs, expenses, or attorney’s fees from the defendant.

Report Title:  Hawaiian Home Lands, Successors, Blood Quantum
Description: Reduces the minimum Hawaiian blood quantum requirement of certain successors to lessees of Hawaiian home lands from one-quarter to one-thirty second.
